About

The Downtown Berkeley BART Plaza and Transit Improvement project addressed the need to revitalize and modernize the Downtown Berkeley station and Downtown core’s most important public space. It aimed to improve both safety, accessibility, capacity, function and appearance for students, residents, and employees who travel to and from Downtown core via transit, and others who pass through and utilize the plaza.

The scope of the project includes modifications and reconstruction of the plaza, main BART entrance and secondary entrances; underground utility relocation; replacement of sidewalk materials and landscaping; plaza and street lighting; asphalt paving and concrete flatwork; and incorporation of other design amenities.
