About

This project creates a new underground stormwater diversion structure and culvert system to divert stormwater overflow from the Bayfront Canal and Atherton Channel to the neighboring salt ponds. Key elements of construction include a cast-in-place concrete wire and diversion structure, 580’ double box culvert, deep excavation and structure backfill, culvert outfall with flap gates and concrete wingwalls, extensive utility maintenance and protection, roadway paving, and riparian restoration of the jobsite. The anticipated geotechnical issues working in bay mud and ecologically sensitive areas required a team effort to quickly resolve discovered conditions and maintain progress.

CPM provided for this project a team of highly experienced staff with expertise in resident engineering, construction inspection, special inspection, regulatory compliance, and office engineering that is tailored to address these issues quickly and seek expeditious solutions.
